Understanding Agency Views

An agency view is a custom component your agency creates to support business functions or workflows that are specific to your agency. Your administrator determines which fields are included and designs the layout of the component. An agency view can include the same controls and user interface elements as other components, such as lists, fields, and modal windows.

Agency views can be based on data from a contract, sample record test, DSR material SMFMI, DWR item posting, DWR acceptance record, mix design, or mix design component. To access and enter information using an agency view, you first need to create an association between the agency view and the appropriate data entity.

When you associate an agency view with a test, contract, or other entity, you create an agency view instance. This agency view instance enables you to enter or view additional information about the specific test, contract, or other entity with which the agency view is associated.

For example, suppose your administrator creates an agency view that lists the names, addresses, and phone numbers for all of the vendors assigned to a contract. When the agency view is associated with a specific contract, you can then open the agency view instance to view or update the vendor contact information for that contract.

Agency views are accessible from the summary component appropriate for the associated entity. For example, agency views that are associated with a contract can be accessed from the Actions menu on the Contract Progress Summary. Agency views associated with a test can be accessed from the Actions menu on the Sample Record Test Summary and the Enter Test Results component.

For information about how to associate an agency view with a test, contract, or other entity, see the following topics:

The system includes sample agency views. Sample agency views are read-only and cannot be associated with other records. Instead, your administrator must copy the sample agency view and its related agency entities, and then you can associate the copy with the appropriate record and enter data as needed. The following sample agency views are available to be copied:

Because agency views are created and customized by your agency, the online Help system does not include instructions about how to use an agency view.
