Working with Agency Entities

Your agency can create its own entities and views to support additional business functions that might be required by your state or your agency's workflow. An agency entity is a business entity, along with the database fields and tables needed to support it, as defined by an agency. Agency entities are created first as a method of storing data, and agency views are created second as the user interface needed to access and change data in the agency entity.

Agency entities can use and extend data from the following parent entities: other agency entities, Contract, DSR Material SMFMI, DWR Acceptance Record, DWR Item Posting, Mix Design, Mix Design Component, and Sample Record Test.

The Agency Entity Overview lists all of the agency entities recorded in the system. To access the overview, click the Agency Entities link in the System Administration component.

You can locate a specific entity by typing criteria in the Quick Find search box, or by clicking Show first 10. The system lists rows of entities that match your criteria.

Each row includes an Actions button and values in these fields:

To add a new agency entity, select Add from the Actions menu on the component header. The system takes you to the Add Agency Entity component. See Adding an Agency Entity for more information.

To create a new agency entity based on an existing agency entity, select Copy from the Actions menu on the entity row. The system takes you to the Copy Agency Entity component. See Copying an Agency Entity for more information.

To delete an agency entity, select Delete from the Actions menu on the entity row. You cannot delete an agency entity after it has been used to store data. The system shades the row gray to indicate it is marked for deletion. To reverse the delete action, click the Undo button. To save your changes, click the Save button.

To view or change additional information about an agency view, click the Name link, or select Open from the Actions menu on the entity row. The system takes you to the Agency Entity Summary. See Maintaining an Agency Entity for more information.
