Maintaining Source Material Facility Material Identifications

  1. Maintaining SMFMI Component Materials
A source material facility material identification, or SMFMI, is a way to uniquely identify a like material supplied by the same source or facility, such as a batch, lot, seal, or stockpile.

The Source Material Facility Material Identification Summary contains all of the information currently recorded for source material and facility material identifications. You can add and maintain SMFMIs only for sources and facilities for which your user is assigned source authority. To access the summary, navigate to the SMFMI tab on either the Facility Material Summary or the Source Material Summary, and click the SMFMI Name link.

The component opens on the General tab, which allows you to view or change the following information:

Rows of component materials are listed in a separate section in the lower portion of the component. For more information, see Maintaining SMFMI Component Materials.

To change information for a source material or facility material identification, click in a field and add, change, or delete information as required.

When you are finished making changes, click the Save button. The system displays a message to confirm that your changes were saved in the database.

You can add a new SMFMI from the SMFMI tab on either the Source Material Summary or Facility Material Summary components. For more information, see Adding a Source Material Facility Material Identification.

Persons with the appropriate source management level assignment may permit global access to the source material identification by selecting Set Global SMFMI Authority from the Actions menu on the component header. When global SMFMI authority has been enabled for the SMFMI, the system does not display the SMFMI Authority tab on the Source Material Facility Material Identification summary, and the system removes any SMFMI authority associations with sources, facilities, or contracts that have been granted for the source material identification. The system then permits any related record to make associations with the SMFMI.

Persons with the appropriate source management level assignment may restrict use of the SMFMI by selecting Restrict SMFMI Authority from the Actions menu on the component header. Access to the SMFMI may only be restricted if there are no associated sample records, daily source reports, mix designs, contract materials, or construction stockpiles. When you select the Restrict SMFMI Authority action, the system displays the SMFMI Authority tab on the Source Material Facility Material Identification Summary component.

To maintain additional information for the source material or facility material identification, click the following tabs:

SMFMI Authority

Click this tab to maintain access authority information for the SMFMI. For more information, see Managing SMFMI Authority.

Associated Items

Click this tab to maintain the items associated with the SMFMI. For more information, see Maintaining SMFMI Associated Items.

Associated DSRs

Click this tab to access a list of Daily Source Reports that have recorded production or destination quantities for this SMFMI. For more information, see Maintaining SMFMI Associated DSRs.

Maintaining SMFMI Component Materials

A component material is one of multiple materials that make up a whole material. For example, aggregate is one of the materials that make up concrete.

On the SMFMI Summary, the Component Materials section lists materials that are a component of the source material or facility material associated with the SMFMI. For a material to be listed in the Component Materials section, the material must also be assigned an active SMFMI.

Each component material row contains an Actions button and current values for the following fields:

To change information for a component material, click in a field and add, change, or delete information as required.

The Material Code – Name field enables you to select component materials of the parent reference material only if those component materials are also associated with an SMFMI. Component materials that are not associated with an active SMFMI are not available for selection in the Material Code – Name field.

After you select a component material in the Material Code – Name field, the SMFMI – Net Inventory Quantity field is filtered to show the appropriate value for the selected component material.

In the Percentage field, specify the percentage of the component material in relation to the whole. The total percentage of component materials must always equal 100.

To add a new component material, select the New button in the Component Materials section. A new component material row is added to the bottom of the list. You must enter a value in the Material Code – Name field in order to save the new component material.

To delete a component material, select Delete from the Actions menu on the component material row. To reverse the delete action, click the Undo button.

Click Save when you are finished. The system displays a message to confirm that your changes were saved in the database.
