Using the Mobile Tester Application

Web-based AASHTOWare Project™ works with several mobile applications that allow agency personnel to use a smartphone or tablet to capture information in the field.
AASHTOWare Project Mobile Tester™ is used with AASHTOWare Project Construction & Materials™ to allow material testers to electronically capture samples and test results. Users can select a Contract Item Material Set Material and create a sample record as well as assign and enter data for any field-specified tests for the sample record.
Mobile applications can be used online or offline and can accommodate any size contract.

To prepare your material testers for success when entering sample records and test information in Mobile Tester, set up the following system data:

Note: Mobile Tester users may enter data in the application without Lab Tester Qualifications. However, users must have Lab Tester Qualifications in order to enter additional test data to the synced record in AASHTOWare Project; if they do not, they will only be able to view the synced test data.

Mobile application integration with AASHTOWare Project relies on two tools to facilitate the data exchange:

Registering Mobile Tester on a Device

To register your Mobile Tester device with AASHTOWare Project SYNC Service:

  1. Log in to your Windows, Android or iOS device with your username.

If you are the only user on an Android or iOS device, then you may not need to log in each time you use the device. iOS supports only one user per device.

This mobile application registers only one user per device. Even if you use a shared Windows computer or Android device, verify that you have logged in with a username unique to you.

  2. Open one of these browsers: Chrome 65+, Safari 11.3+, or Edge 17.17063+.

Do not use a private or incognito browser mode because the app will not recognize you.

  3. Navigate to https://mobiletester.aashtowareproject.org.

  4. Review the terms and conditions. Click Accept Terms and Register.

Mobile Tester assigns your device a Device ID.

  5. Provide the Device ID to your system administrator, who will associate your Mobile Tester device ID with your AASHTOWare Project user account, enabling your device to exchange information between Mobile Tester and AASHTOWare Project Materials.
