Maintaining Source Material Categories

Reference material categories classify types of materials - for example, aggregates, admixtures, and reinforced steel. Materials within a category inherit common action relationships and acceptance actions from the material category.

Click the Material Categories tab on the Source Summary component to review a list of the material categories for which this is an approved source.

Click the Select Source Material Categories button to add a material category to a source. See Adding a Material Category to a Source.

Click the Actions menu on the Select Source Material Categories button and select Copy Source Material Categories to Facilities to copy source material categories to one or more facilities. See Copying Material Categories from a Source to Facilities.

Click the Actions menu on the Select Source Material Categories button and select Copy Source Material Categories to Sources to copy material categories from one source to another source. See Copying Material Categories from a Source to Other Sources.

You can view or change information in these fields:

Locate a specific material category for the source by typing criteria in the Quick Find search box, or by clicking Show first 10. The system displays a list of rows for all the source material categories that match your search criteria.

The row Actions menu has the following functions: 

Actions

Select Delete to delete a record. Select the Undo button to reverse the delete action. Click the Save button.

Select Exclude from Search Results to exclude a record from your search.

Views

Select Attachments to manage attachments. The Attachments link includes the number of files attached to this record. See Working with Attachments.

Select Links to manage links. See Working with Links.

Select Material Category to manage information for the reference material category. See Maintaining a Material Category.

Select Tracked Issues to manage tracked issues. See Maintaining Tracked Issue Information.

Click in a field to add, change, or delete information as needed. Click the Save button when you are finished.

Adding a Material Category to a Source

Adding a material category to a source indicates that the source is approved to manufacture, supply, or distribute the category of materials. When you want to add a material category to a source, you select the material category from reference data already entered in the system.

To add a material category to a source:

  1. On the Material Categories tab of the Source Summary component, click the Select Source Material Categories button.

    The system displays the Select Material Categories modal window.

  2. Locate the material category you want by typing criteria in the Quick Find search box, or by clicking Show First 10.

    The modal window lists material categories that match your criteria.   

  3. Click a material category row to select it.

    A check mark appears at the beginning of the row to indicate it is selected. Continue selecting material category rows as needed. You can click a row again to clear the selection.

  4. When you are finished selecting material categories, click the Add to Source button.

    The system closes the modal window and adds the material categories you selected to the list on the Material Categories tab.

  5. You can enter additional information about the material category as needed. When you are finished making changes, click the Save button.

    The system displays a message to confirm that your changes were saved.

Copying Material Categories from a Source to Facilities

You can copy material categories from a source to one or more facilities. When you copy material categories to facilities, the system also copies the Approval Status, Effective Date, Expiration Date, Status, and Active indicator.

If you need to change information for a material category after you copy it to a facility, go to the Facility Summary component for the appropriate facility, and then click the Material Categories tab. See Maintaining Facility Material Categories.

To copy source material categories to one or more facilities:

  1. On the Material Categories tab of the Source Summary component, select Copy Source Material Categories to Facilities from the Actions menu on the source material category list.

    The system displays the Copy Source Material Categories to Facilities modal window.

  2. Locate the facility to which you want to copy material categories by typing criteria in the Quick Find search box, or by clicking Show First 10.

    The modal window lists facilities that match your criteria.

  3. Click a facility row to select it.

    A check mark appears at the beginning of the row to indicate it is selected. Continue selecting facility rows as needed. You can click a row again to clear the selection.

  4. When you are finished selecting facilities, click the Save button.

    The system closes the modal window and displays a message to confirm that your changes were saved.

Copying Material Categories from a Source to Other Sources

You can copy material categories from a source to one or more other sources. When you copy material categories to sources, the system also copies the Approval Status, Effective Date, Expiration Date, Status, and Active indicator.

If you need to change information for a material category after you copy it to another source, go to the Source Summary component for the appropriate source, click the Material Categories tab, and then modify information as needed. See Maintaining Source Material Categories.

To copy material categories from one source to another source:

  1. On the Material Categories tab of the Source Summary component, select Copy Source Material Categories to Sources from the Actions menu on the source material category list.

    The system displays the Copy Source Material Categories to Sources modal window.

  2. Locate the source to which you want to copy material categories by typing criteria in the Quick Find search box, or by clicking Show First 10.

    The modal window lists reference data for sources that match your criteria.

  3. Click a source row to select it.

    A check mark appears at the beginning of the row to indicate it is selected. Continue selecting source rows as needed. You can click a row again to clear the selection.

  4. When you are finished, click the Save button.

    The system closes the modal window and displays a message to confirm that your changes were saved.
