Changing a Reference Code Table

  2. Deleting Code Table Values

The Code Table/Values Summary component contains all the code values that are currently in the code table. To access the Code Table/Values Summary from the Code Table Overview, select Open from the Actions menu on the code table row.

The top of the component contains header information for the code table, and displays the Reference Code Table ID and Reference Code Table Description in read-only fields.

Under this header information, the system displays a rolling list of code table values. Each row contains the following unlabeled fields:

Click in a field and add, change, or delete information as needed. When you are finished, click the Save button.

For more information about a specific code table, see Code Table Definitions.

Adding Code Table Values

To add a new value to the code table, click the New button. The system adds a new row at the bottom of the rolling list of code table values. All fields in the new row are blank.

To create a code table value, you must enter information in these fields:

Tab from one field to the next as you enter information. To add more values, tab out of the last field to automatically add a new blank row. Continue adding as many values as needed. When you are finished, click the Save button.

Deleting Code Table Values

Typically, when you want to remove access to a particular value in the code table, (that is, make sure the value no longer appears as an option in any field drop down lists), you will do this by setting the Obsolete Date to the current date. However, in the rare case where a code table value contains an error or has never been used, you may also delete it from the system by selecting Delete from the Actions menu on the value row.

Deleting a reference code table value requires that the system perform many complex validations. Therefore, this process may require a significant amount of time.

To delete a code table value, select Delete from the Actions menu on the value row.

When you are finished, click the Save button. The system displays a message to confirm that your changes were saved in the database.
