Assigning Restricted Field Access Rights to a Role

The Restricted Fields tab of the Assign Role Access Rights component allows you to assign and change the rights of a user role to access restricted fields.

The tab contains a list of entity models. Each model row contains an Actions button, the model name, and the number of restricted fields the model contains. Click the Expand/Collapse button to display a subordinate list of all of the restricted fields in each model.

Each restricted field row contains an Actions button and the following information:

To assign unlimited access rights to a restricted field, select the Permission check box for the field. Clearing the check box removes these rights.

You can also assign limited access rights to a restricted field by following these steps:

  1. Expand the appropriate model row and locate the restricted field.

  2. Select the Permission check box.

  3. Select Add Conditional Access from the Actions menu on the restricted field's row.

The system displays a modal window for setting up the conditional values in a filter that will determine the limits you want to put on the role's access to this restricted field. The filter options displayed depend on the restricted field selected.

  4. In the modal window, set the filter values as required.

As an example, suppose you want to limit a role's access rights the unit price of proposal items to only those on proposal line numbers 500 and higher. After locating the row for the Proposal Item restricted field Unit Price, you would open the modal window and set the filter as shown below:

    Field/Column

    Operator

    Value

    Proposal Item Line Number

    Greater Than

    499

  5. Click the Save button in the modal window.

The system closes the modal window and takes you to the Restricted fields tab with the new conditions recorded.

  6. Note: For more information about setting up a filter, see Filters and Using Operators with the Advanced Filter.

When you are finished maintaining access rights to restricted fields for the role, click the Save button on the component header to apply your changes to the system. The system displays a message to confirm that the change was saved in the database.
