Maintaining a Bid-Based Task

The Cost Estimate Item Bid Based Task Summary lists all of the information recorded for the bid-based task associated with a cost estimate item.

You can access the component by navigating to Item Pricing Worksheet or the Cost Estimate Items tab on the Cost Estimate Summary, clicking the Details button to the right of the Price field, and then clicking the Bid Based link. If no bid-based task is associated with the cost estimate item, the system takes you to the Add Cost Estimate Item Bid Based Task component. See Adding a Bid-Based Task.

Information about the associated cost estimate item is displayed at the top of the summary in the Item Information section. You can view information in these fields:

In the Task Detail section, you can view or change information in these fields:

Clearing or selecting the Active check box determines whether the price is included in the cost estimate.

In the Results section, you can view or enter information in these fields:

If a letting date is entered for the parent concept, project, or proposal, the system uses the letting date to determine the season. If no letting date is entered, the system uses the season entered for the parent concept, project, or proposal. If no values are entered for season or letting date, then season is not considered when calculating the item price.

Click in a field and add, change, or delete information as needed.

If the task is active and you modify values in the Task Bid History Profile, Alternate Item, Rolled Up Quantity, or Alternate Quantity fields, the system does not display a value in the Task Price field until you calculate the price.

To execute the bid history analysis and calculate the price for this cost estimate item, select Calculate Price from the Actions menu on the component header. The system calculates the bid-based price and updates the value in the Task Price field. Click the Save button when you are finished.

To associate a bid history profile with this bid-based task, or to replace the associated bid history profile with another, choose Select Task Bid History Profile from the Actions menu on the component header. The system displays a modal window for selecting a bid history profile. Click a profile to select it, and then click Copy Profile to Cost Estimate Item Bid Based Task. The system closes the modal window, makes a copy of the profile, and associates it with the bid-based task. The name of the profile you selected is displayed in the Task Bid History Profile field. Click the Save button when you are finished.

To remove the bid history profile (if any) associated with this bid-based task, select Remove Task Bid History Profile from the Actions menu on the component header. The system deletes the task bid history profile and clears the value in the Task Bid History Profile field.

To view information about the task group for this bid-based task, click the Task Groups quick link. The system takes you to the Cost Estimate Item Task Group Overview. See Working with Task Groups for Cost Estimate Items.

To access an interactive scatter plot that enables you to analyze price versus quantity for the cost estimate item using this bid-based task, select Price vs Quantity Analysis from the Actions menu on the component header. You can analyze the data and adjust settings as needed. You can simply view and adjust the analysis, or you can apply the changes you make in the analysis window to the current bid-based task. See Analyzing Price Versus Quantity for more information.

To access a list view that enables you to analyze price versus quantity for the cost estimate item using this bid-based task, click the Source Data quick link. The system takes you to the Bid History Source Data component. Note that the Source Data quick link is available only after the item price has been calculated. See Analyzing Bid History Source Data for more information.
