Maintaining Transition Profile Information

A transition profile maps a parametric item to one or more reference items. A parametric item represents a group of similar detail items that are generally used for a certain type of work. Parametric items are used in long-range estimates before detailed plans have been developed. As more information about a planned improvement becomes available, a transition profile can be used to automatically transition a parametric item to detail items on a cost estimate.

The Transition Profile Overview lists all of the parametric item transition profiles in the system. To access the overview, click the Transition Profile link in the Reference Data component.

You can locate a specific transition profile by entering criteria in the Quick Find search box, or you can filter the list by selecting a value in the Spec Book field. The system displays rows for transition profiles that match your criteria.

Each row represents a transition profile for one parametric item. Each row includes an Actions button and values in these fields:

To enter or modify an obsolete date for a transition profile, click in the Obsolete Date field for that row, and enter information as needed. Click the Save button when you are finished.

To delete a transition profile, select Delete from the Actions menu on the profile row. The system shades the row gray to indicate it is marked for deletion. To reverse the delete action, click the Undo button. To save your changes, click the Save button.

To create a new transition profile, select Add from the Actions menu on the component header. The system takes you to the Add Transition Profile component. See Adding a Transition Profile for more information.

To create a new transition profile based on an existing profile, select Copy from the Actions menu on the profile row. You can copy a transition profile only if the profile already includes detail items. The system takes you to the Copy Transition Profile component. See Copying a Transition Profile for more information.

To access additional information for the profile, including the list of reference items that are mapped to the parametric item, click the Parametric Item link, or select Open from the Actions menu on the profile row. The system takes you to the Transition Profile Summary. See Maintaining a Transition Profile for more information.
