Maintaining Material Set Information for an Item

The Material Sets tab on the Item Summary component lists all of the material sets for this reference item.

A material set is a group of materials associated with an item. When you associate a material set with a:

Each row includes an Actions button and values for these fields:

Click in a field and add, change, or delete information as needed. When you are finished, click the Save button. The system displays a message to confirm that your changes were saved in the database.

To delete a material set, select Delete from the Actions menu on the material set row. The system shades the row gray to indicate it is marked for deletion. To reverse the delete action, click the Undo button.

To create a new material set, click the New button. The system adds a new row to the list. To save a new row, you must enter a value in the Material Set field.

To view or change additional information about the material set, click the Materials link, or select Open from the Actions menu on the appropriate row. The system takes you to the Material Set Summary. See Maintaining Material Sets for an Item for more information.

Copying Material Sets

To save time when adding material sets to reference items, you can copy one or more material sets from a reference item and add them to other reference items.

Copying One Material Set

To copy one material set to one or more reference items, perform these steps:

  1. Select Copy Material Set to Items from the Actions menu on the material set row.

    The system displays a modal window that lists all reference items.

  2. Type criteria in the Quick Find search box to locate the items to which you want to add the material set. Or, click Show First 10.

    The modal window lists rows of reference items that match your criteria.

  3. To limit the list to items in one spec book, click the Spec Book field and select the spec book that contains the items.

  4. Click to select one or more reference items.

    A check mark appears at the beginning of the row to indicate it is selected.

  5. Click the Copy button.

    The system closes the modal window, copies the material set to the reference items you selected, and displays a message to confirm the material set was successfully copied.

Copying All Material Sets

To copy all material sets to one or more reference items, perform these steps:

  1. Select Copy Material Sets to Items from the list Actions menu.

    The system displays a modal window that lists all reference items.

  2. Type criteria in the Quick Find search box to locate the items to which you want to add the material set. Or, click Show First 10.

    The modal window lists rows of reference items that match your criteria.

  3. To limit the list to items in one spec book, click the Spec Book field and select the spec book that contains the items.

  4. Click to select one or more reference items.

    A check mark appears at the beginning of the row to indicate it is selected.

  5. Click the Copy button.

    The system closes the modal window, copies all the material sets to the reference items you selected, and displays a message to confirm the material set was successfully copied.
