The Associations tab on the Sample Record Summary contains a list of entity values associated with the material sample. You can associate a sample record with one or more destination labs, inspection agencies, person identifications, and limited sample access roles.
When you create an association between a sample record and a destination lab, it determines which lab units can process the sample. Only lab units associated with the destination lab have access to the sample record.
You can also associate a sample record with a limited sample access role. When such an association is created, the system allows access to the sample record and its associated tests and agency views only for users whose active role is designated in the limited sample access association.
Note: For users and user roles that need access to other sample records on a regular basis, your system administrator can assign access rights. (See Assigning Resource Access Rights to a Role for more information.)
Each row on the Associations tab represents one association for the sample record. Each association consists of a value in the Association Type and Association Value fields.
To modify an association for this sample record, click in a field and add, change, or delete information as needed. When you change the value in the Association Type field, the system automatically clears the Association Value field. Click the Save button to save your changes.
Note: You cannot add or change associations for a sample record after tests are assigned to the sample record.
To remove an association from this sample record, select Delete from the Actions menu on the association row. Click the Undo button to reverse your changes. Click the Save button to save your changes.
To create a new association for this sample record, click the New button. The system adds a blank row at the top of the list. Enter or select values in the Association Type and Association Value fields. When you are finished, click the Save button.
