Working with Formulas

The system provides tools to help you build formulas for use in numeric fields in an estimate. Commonly used formulas can be saved and shared with other estimators. Saved formulas can also be used in the Expression Builder to build more complex calculations. The Formula Overview lists all of the formulas recorded in the system.

To access the overview, click the Formulas link in the Reference Data component.

Each row on the Formula Overview includes an Actions button and current values in these fields:

To view or change additional information about a formula, click the Formula Name link, or select Open from the Actions menu on the formula row. The system takes you to the Formula Summary (see Maintaining a Formula).

To add a new formula, select Add from the Actions menu on the component header. The system takes you to the Add Formula component (see Adding a Formula).

To copy a formula and save it with a new name, select Copy from the Actions menu on the formula row. The system takes you to the Copy Formula component (see Copying a Formula).

To delete a formula, select Delete from the Actions menu on the formula row. To reverse the deletion, click the Undo button.

To save your changes, click the Save button. The system displays a message to confirm that your changes were saved in the database.
