The AASHTOWare Project Generic Document Management Application Programming Interface (API) enables you to create an interface from a document management system to the web-based AASHTOWare Project software. With this interface, you can create URL attachments that link documents in the document management system to any web-based AASHTOWare Project entity.
To use the API, your agency must license the SYNC™ Service for AASHTOWare Project and a document management system, such as Doc Express® or Bentley ProjectWise.
In the AASHTOWare Project software, an agency user runs the Bridge to Document Management System process on the Execute Process component to activate the API. See Running the Bridge to a Document Management System.
The Doc Express® document management system natively supports the web-based AASHTOWare Project Document Management API. To use the API with other document management systems, your agency must develop an interface adapter. For information about enabling the interface in Doc Express or developing an interface for another document management system, download the AASHTOWare Project Document Management Application Programming Interface Guide from aashtowareproject.org.
For more information about setting up your system to use the API, see Setting Up Access for Mobile Applications.
