Items with similar characteristics and bid histories can be added to an item group to be analyzed collectively as a single item for the purpose of generating bid-based pricing. Using item groups allows an agency to expand the number of observations available in the bid data for items that individually might not have enough history to generate estimated prices.
An item group set contains multiple item groups. Each item group must be part of an item group set. When you are organizing item groups, first create an item group set, then add item groups to the set, and finally add items to the item groups.
The Item Group Set Overview lists all of the item group sets in the system. To access the overview, click the Item Group Sets link in the Reference Data component.
Each row represents one item group set. Each row contains an Actions button and values in these fields:
Click in the Obsolete Date field and add, change, or delete information as needed.
To delete an item group set from the system, select Delete from the Actions menu on the item group set row. You can only delete reference data that has not been used in other entities. In these cases, instead of deleting, set the Obsolete Date.
When you are finished, click the Save button. The system displays a message to confirm that your changes were saved in the database.
To view or change additional information about an item group set, including the items and item groups it contains, select Open from the Actions menu on the item group set row, or click the Item Group Set link. The system takes you to the Item Group Set Summary. For more information, see Maintaining an Item Group Set.
To add a new item group set to the system, select Add from the Actions menu on the component header. The system takes you to the Add Item Group Set component. For more information, see Adding an Item Group Set.
To create a new item group set that includes the same item groups as an existing set, select Copy from the Actions menu on the item group set row. The system takes you to the Copy Item Group Set component. For more information, see Copying an Item Group Set.
