Migrating Contract Data from CAS to Construction

Data migration is the process of moving data from one product database to another, usually for a product upgrade or relocation. A migration only transfers data that does not already exist in the target location. Once successfully migrated, data is managed in the new location and can no longer be managed in the source location.

The Migrate Contract Data from CAS interface migrates information on a contract-by-contract basis from client/server CAS to AASHTOWare Project Construction & Materials. This migration process is used for product upgrades or relocations.

The following contract information is included in this process: contract header information; contract projects, categories and items; subcontracts and subcontract items; estimate (voucher) information; and attachments.

Follow these steps to migrate contract data from CAS to Construction:

  1. From any page in the system, select Execute System Interface from the Actions menu on the Menu bar.

The system takes you to the System Interface component, which displays a list of all the available interfaces.

  2. In the list, select Migrate Contract Data from CAS.

The system displays Select Data in the Settings menu on the component subheader and a Quick Find search box for locating contracts to migrate.

  3. Type criteria in the Quick Find search box, or click Show first 10.

The system displays a list of all the contracts in the system that match your search criteria.

  4. Select the contracts you want to include in the migration.

The system displays a check mark beside each selected contract.

  5. Optional: If you want to schedule the interface process to run at a later time, select Schedule Interface on the Settings menu on the component subheader. Select the Enable Scheduling check box and set scheduling information as required. For more information, see Scheduling a Process.

  6. Click the Execute button on the component header.

The system runs the interface process.

  7. You can monitor the status of the interface process on the Process History Overview component.

In the process history, the system displays a Process Running message until it completes the interface process, at which time the finish time and success of a process is displayed. For more information, see Viewing Process History.
