Maintaining Variables for a Cost Estimate

The Variables tab on the Cost Estimate Summary lists all of the variables recorded for the current cost estimate. A variable is a numeric value used in formulas to calculate an estimate. Variables represent values that can change, such as the number of miles of pavement or the acreage of a work site area, and therefore affect the total cost estimate or the cost estimate for an item.

Each variable row includes an Actions button and current values in these fields:

Click in a field and add, change, or delete information as needed.

To delete a variable, select Delete from the Actions menu on the variable row. To reverse the delete action, click the Undo button.

To add a new variable to this cost estimate, click the New button. The system adds a blank row at the bottom of the list. Enter information about the variable as needed.

When you are finished, click the Save button. The system displays a message to confirm that your changes were saved in the database.
