Maintaining Test Assignment Information

A test assignment information record is a default set of test information, based on the material, sample type, lab unit, and test method. Test assignment information records control which tests can be assigned to sample records. To create a test assignment information record, an action relationship must exist between the material or its parent material category and the test method, and the test method must be assigned to a testing qualification associated with the lab unit.

Some examples of how test assignment settings might be used at your agency include: 1) you want samples at the regional labs to have only two default tests for Material A; 2) staff at the regional labs want to accept or reject each sample; 3) the main office lab wants to assign seven tests to each sample for Material A; or 4) you only want to see the problem samples and have the system authorize the samples that pass specifications. You can use test assignment information records to set up defaults for these or any other common test scenarios.

The Test Assignment Information Overview lists all of the test assignment information records in the system. To access the overview, click the Test Assignment Information link in the Reference Data component. The Test Assignment Information Overview opens on the Test Assignments tab.

Scroll through the list to locate the appropriate row, or type criteria in the Quick Find search box. You can also use the filters at the top of the component to list only those test assignments for a specific material, sample type, or lab unit.

When you expand a row, you can view or change information in these fields:

Click in a field and add, delete, or modify information as needed.

When you enter a material code or a material category, and then select a lab unit, the system filters the values in the Test field to show only those test methods that have an action relationship with the selected material or material category, and are also included in a testing qualification associated with the selected lab unit.

To delete a test assignment information record, select Delete from the Actions menu on the test assignment row. To reverse the delete action, click the Undo button.

To add a new test assignment information record, click the New button. The system adds a new row at the bottom of the list. To save the new row, you must enter information in all fields that display a red asterisk. Record information in other fields as needed.

When you are finished, click the Save button. The system displays a message to confirm that your changes were saved in the database.

To maintain the list of possible test result values, click the following tab:
