A reference sample status designates where a material sample stands in the queue of steps required to create a sample record (for example, pending, received at lab unit, or in testing). Your system provides a set of default reference sample statuses, but your agency may have modified this set by renaming default statuses or adding new ones.
The Reference Sample Status Overview enables you to add, change, and delete reference sample statuses. To access this component, click the Reference Sample Statuses link in the Reference Data component.
To maintain an existing reference sample status, locate the sample status row. If you use the Quick Find search box to locate the row, the system displays a list of reference sample statuses that match your search criteria. Each row contains an Actions button and current values for the following fields:
To change the information in a reference sample status, click anywhere in that row to select it. The system highlights the row and displays information in labeled fields. You can change the sample status name, sort order, and the Is Acceptable, Is Authorizable, and Is Printable check boxes.
To add a new reference sample status to the system, click the New button. The system adds a new blank row to the list. To create a new reference sample status, you must enter information in the Sample Status field.
To delete a reference sample status that your agency added to the system, select Delete from the Actions menu on the sample status row. You cannot delete a default reference sample status or any reference sample status that is currently being used in a sample record.
When you have finished maintaining reference sample status information, click the Save button to apply your changes to the system. The system displays a message to confirm that your changes were saved in the database.
