    1. Adding a New Sampling Qualification to the Material

The Qualifications tab on the Material Summary component contains two lists of qualifications associated with the reference material. All of the qualifications for a material must have a Qualification Category of Sampling. In order to be listed as the sampler for a sample record, a person must have the same sampling qualification as the material.

The list in the upper part of the tab contains all the sampling qualifications for the material that were inherited automatically through the qualifications for this material's material category.

The second list contains additional sampling qualifications added specifically for this material. You can add new qualifications for the material through this list.

Viewing Inherited Sampling Qualifications

In the Inherited Sampling Qualifications list on the Qualifications tab, each row represents one sampling qualification inherited through the associated material category. You can view, but not change or delete inherited qualifications. Each row contains an Actions button and current values for the following fields:

Locate a specific sampling qualification by typing criteria in the Quick Find search box or by clicking Show first 10. The system displays a list of rows for all the sampling qualifications that match your search criteria. You can view but not change information in a row.

To view or maintain more information for a sampling qualification, click the qualification ID link or select Open from the Actions menu on the qualification row. The system takes you to the Qualification Summary component. For more information, see Changing a Qualification.
